REV. SCOTT H. BOLLINGER – Senior Pastor

Pastor Scott joined Mt. Zion as senior pastor in May 2012, having previously served as senior interim pastor for 18 months and part-time interim associate pastor for two years. Prior to Mt. Zion, Pastor Scott was pastor of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Claremont, NC (1998-2007), and Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton, NC (1993-1998).

Pastor Scott is a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC (1980), and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC (1993). He is married to Cynda Bollinger, an insurance agent for Catawba Valley Insurance Agency in Hickory, NC. They have a son, Riley, and daughter, Grace.

TIM WARREN – Organist

A native of Hickory, NC, Tim Warren has served as Mt. Zion's organist since July 1978.

Tim received his organ instruction at Lenoir-Rhyne University under Larry Lowder and was on staff at LRU for 12 years, serving for eight years as rehearsal accompanist and organist for the University Choir. He was also rehearsal accompanist and organist for the Catawba Valley Community Chorus for 15 years.

Tim has played many fine organs in the US, including those at Washington National Cathedral and the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

TAWNY HOMESLEY – Director of Music

A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University, where she studied sacred music and family ministry, Tawny also holds an MSM (Master of Sacred Music) degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN.

She has worked as a church musician since 2005; prior to Mt. Zion, she served as Minister of Music & Worship at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN, for over 10 years. 

Tawny resides in Hickory with her husband Nick, sons James and Blake, and their three dogs: Copper, Delta, and Dupree. The family enjoys boating, travel, baseball, music, and coffee. James and Blake love trains, dancing, Paw Patrol, and playing outside.

Her most beloved Bible verse is Ephesians 2:8 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”
